I learned at a very young age that there are times to sit still and times to run and run fast. In the spring of 1997, On March 27th a total of 27 tornadoes were recorded to have touch down around my home of Bell County and surrounding areas. One of which was a record breaking F5 twister that ended the lives of 27 people. That was one time we learned how to be fast.
Lyrics
Burnt orange white top Chevy
Momma drove it till the wheels fell off
That spring the heat came steady
The sky turned wicked like a bad outlaw
In the backseat my heart dropped heavy
F5 twister biting at our paws
On the floor board a heads up penny
And A small girls prayer that roof stays on
How fast can you drive
It’s gotta be enough to save our lives
Burning gears before the devil takes the lead
The dark can’t catch us if we know how to speed
Black tears made him thirsty
Loading shots of whiskey like a cannonball
Never heard steps so deadly
A bear in the woods wouldn’t feel this tall
White rock dust I must be lucky
Heard the engine coming so I took my shot
Left no trace and I won’t feel guilty
Don’t put hands where they don’t belong
How fast can you drive
Will 90 miles an hour save our lives
Burning gears before the devil takes the lead
The dark can’t catch us if we know how to speed
I’d like to slow down
I’d like to breathe
But I got to get out
so you know I gotta to speed
How fast can you drive
It’s gotta be enough to save our lives
Burning gears before the devil takes the lead
The dark can’t catch us if we know how to speed
